Belem Tower
The unique four-story Belem Tower fortress sits directly on the banks of the Tagus, and was built in the 16th century to defend the harbor. Originally a lighthouse, it was also used as a prison.

Malaga
Malaga, the birthplace of Pablo Picasso and the entryway to the Costa del Sol, is a busy, occasionally chaotic city of 550,000 people. For those who choose not to spend their entire time on the coast's renowned beaches and the surrounding bars, there are an incredible number of museums and monuments, such as the Alcazaba fort from the 11th century and the Museu Picasso Malaga. Taverns and bistros are bustling throughout the ancient city. One can enjoy a pleasant stroll past banana trees and fountains on the expansive Paseo del Parque.
