Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve, Haines, Alaska

The 48,000-acre preserve is the year-round home to between 200 and 400 eagles and more than 80 eagle nests. Even during the summer, it's one of the best places to see an eagle in southeast Alaska.

Glacier Gardens, Juneau, Alaska

This 50-acre garden features species native to this temperate rainforest. Guided tours provide insight into a self-sustaining ecosystem and lookout points on Thunder Mountain are spectacular.

White Pass Scenic Railway

The "Scenic Railway of the World" links Skagway with Yukon, Canada. A 41-mile roundtrip offers an unforgettable journey to the summit of the White Pass at nearly 3,000 feet in elevation.

  • Welcome to the Yukon!! Arrive in Whitehorse and settle in before gathering for a special welcome dinner at the Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre. A catered meal on site provides the perfect introduction to Yukon history, culture, and the spirit of the North. This evening you’ll also have the opportunity to choose your stampeder character and don your period-correct costuming in preparation for role-play fun throughout your journey.** Meet your Tour leader in the hotel lobby by 3 PM for meet followed by a welcome dinner **

Day 2: Whitehorse to Haines

  • Travel from Whitehorse toward Haines Junction, following routes once traveled by Klondike Gold Rush stampeders. Visit the Da Kų Cultural Centre to learn about the traditions and history of the Champagne and Aishihik First Nations, then continue into the spectacular landscapes of Kluane National Park and Reserve. Stop at the Long Ago Peoples Place before enjoying free time for lunch at a local restaurant in Haines Junction.In the afternoon, take in the stunning views at Kathleen Lake, surrounded by the towering peaks of the St. Elias Mountains. We’ll follow the famed Dalton Trail which brought cattle to the Klondike as we continue south into Alaska through the renowned Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve, where bald eagles soar above the rivers that once guided gold seekers and native peoples to the coast.Arrive in the historic town of Haines for dinner at the rustic 33 Mile Roadhouse or a local restaurant in town.

Day 3: Haines & Juneau

  • Step into the spirit of the Klondike Gold Rush as you explore the wild landscapes surrounding Haines. Begin with an unforgettable four-hour adventure along the powerful Chilkat River, a route once travelled by prospectors heading toward the goldfields. As you journey through this rugged wilderness, keep an eye out for soaring bald eagles, wildlife, and the dramatic mountain scenery that greeted gold seekers more than a century ago. Continue your exploration with a drive along the Lutak Inlet to Chilkoot Lake State Recreation Site. Keep your eyes peeled for sea lions or bears along the way. Visit scenic Mud Bay and then pretend you’re a stampeder at the set for the film adaptation of Jack London’s Klondike tale, “White Fang,” set against Alaska’s breathtaking wilderness. Back in Haines, step further into the past with a visit to the Sheldon Museum and Cultural Center, home to fascinating stories and artifacts from the Gold Rush era. Your journey concludes at historic Fort Seward, a beautifully preserved former U.S. Army post where frontier history, coastal views, and Gold Rush heritage come together.

Enjoy the spirited and humorous Days of ’98 Show, a lively performance filled with music, comedy, and tales of frontier justice inspired by the colorful characters of Skagway’s past. Continue your journey through history at the Skagway Museum, home to fascinating artifacts and stories from the Gold Rush era. Lunch is included in town before visiting the infamous Red Onion Saloon, once a bustling Gold Rush brothel and now one of Skagway’s most iconic historic landmarks.

Day 6: Skagway & Dyea

  • Step into the quieter, more rugged side of the Klondike Gold Rush as you explore the haunting remains of Dyea Townsite, once a booming gateway for thousands of stampeders heading north. Visit Slide Cemetery, a solemn reminder of the powerful avalanches that struck prospectors attempting the legendary Chilkoot Trail and stand at the historic trailhead where their difficult journey began. Continue to Gold Rush Cemetery, the final resting place of several colorful characters from Skagway’s wild frontier days, before enjoying the scenic beauty of Reid Falls. Day 7: White Pass Railway to Carcross & Whitehorse

  • Depart early for one of the most legendary journeys of the Klondike Gold Rush aboard the historic White Pass and Yukon Route. As the train climbs through dramatic mountain passes once crossed by determined stampeders, enjoy lunch on board while travelling to the historic shores of Lake Bennett, where thousands of prospectors built boats to continue their journey to the goldfields. You’ll then continue riding along the shore of Lake Bennett as you re-enter the stunningly picturesque Yukon. Arrive in Carcross for a guided historic walking tour and time to explore the vibrant Carcross Commons, home to local artisans and Gold Rush–era charm. Stop by the beloved Matthew Watson General Store before returning to Whitehorse, with scenic stops at the stark Carcross Desert, the striking turquoise waters of Emerald Lake and the preserved remnants of Robinson Roadhouse Historic Site. Day 8: Whitehorse Touring

  • Start the day with breakfast before diving into the rich history and culture of Whitehorse. Visit either the MacBride Museum of Yukon History, where exhibits bring the Klondike Gold Rush to life, or the Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre, showcasing the traditions and stories of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation. Stroll along the Yukon River through Shipyards Park before visiting the historic sternwheeler S.S. Klondike, a Parks Canada National Historic Site, a vital mode of transport during the Gold Rush era. Continue exploring with a stop at the Yukon Transportation Museum, then venture into the surrounding wilderness to admire the dramatic basalt cliffs of Miles Canyon and the serene beauty of Marsh Lake, a historic route once traveled by stampeders heading toward the Klondike.

Discover the rich cultural heritage of the region at the Dänojà Zho Cultural Centre and dive deeper into Gold Rush history at the Dawson City Museum.
