Signal Hill
Signal Hill National Historic Site is a popular landmark that overlooks the city of St. Johns and panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean. Signal Hill was also where the world's first transatlantic wireless signal was received in 1901.

Day 1 St. John's
Arrive St. John's and pick up your rental car and explore the oldest city in North America. This historical, vibrant city has many attractions with the added bonus of a wide selection of restaurants from fine dining to traditional Newfoundland.
Overnight: St. John's, NL
Day 2 St. John's
This morning drive along the Irish Loop to the scenic Avalon Peninsula, home to over 5500 woodland caribou. Continue on to Bay Bulls where you will enjoy a cruise around the Witless Bay Ecological Reserve, a protective sanctuary for kittiwakes, murres, puffins and other seabirds. The waters off Bay Bulls are home to the world's largest population of humpback whales.

Day 3 St. John's - Trinity (3 hours)
This morning enjoy a city tour of St. John's. You will visit the National Historic site of Cape Spear and will enjoy a beautiful view on top of Signal Hill. Depart St. John's and continue along the Conception Bay Scenic Drive to the charming town of Brigus, before continuing to the Bonavista Peninsula and onto the cultural capital of Newfoundland - Trinity.

Day 4 Trinity Sightseeing
Today explore the region further. The Bonavista Bay is an area of extreme natural beauty. Take time to visit Cape Bonavista Lighthouse, The Mattthew Interpretation Centre and the historic Ryan Premises before returning back to Trinity.

Day 5 Trinity - Twillingate (4 hours)
Take a leisurely drive west visiting the spectacular 'Road to the Beaches' area. Places to visit include Salvage - voted one of Canada's top ten prettiest towns. Continue west and enjoy a full day of exploring along the "Road to the Isles" to explore the many coves, inlets and fishing villages dotted along the coastline. Continue to the charming fishing community of Twillingate.

Day 6 Twillingate - Gros Morne National Park (4 1/2 hours)
Today leave behind the Central Region of Newfoundland and head west through a vast expanse of lush forest and contrasting scenery towards Deer Lake, drive north along the Viking Trail (Route 430) to Gros Morne National Park - designated an UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987 for it's impressive geological features.

Day 7 Gros Morne National Park - Main Brook (3 hours)
Today explore the north side of the park. Highlights include the scenic community of Norris Point and Lobster Cove Head Lighthouse in Rocky Harbour. In the afternoon enjoy the spectacular Western Brook Pond Fjord Boat Tour - the only way, other than by helicopter to see the spectacular Western Brook Gorge. Drive north continuing along the Viking trail up to Main Brook.

Day 8 Main Brook Sightseeing
Today you will take the time to visit both L'Anse aux Meadows - the only authenticated Viking settlement site in North America and Norstead Viking Village - a fascinating re-enactment of how Vikings lived over 1000 years ago.

Day 9 Main Brook - Deer Lake (4 1/2 hours)
Today take a leisurely drive back down the Viking Trail and visit Port au Choix National Historic Site and view artifacts of the Maritime Archaic people who occupied the area over 3700 years ago. Continue your journey to Deer Lake.

Day 10 Deer Lake
Depart your accommodations and drive the short distance to Deer Lake Airport where you will drop off your rental car ready for your onward journey.
