Fort San Lorenzo

Located on the west bank of the modern Panama Canal, Fort San Lorenzo is an outstanding example of Spanish Colonial military architecture. Construction of the structure was started in 1595 upon the orders of King Philip the Second of Spain to protect the mouth of the Chagres River, a strategic waterway connecting the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. Control of the waterway provided access to the riches of the South American colonies along the Pacific Ocean and the site was considered to be one of the “keys” to the Americas. Due to its strategic location the fort was under constant attack by pirates and other conquering forces and as a result, the fort had to be rebuilt three times between the 17th and 18th centuries.

Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1 – Canada to Panama City

Depart Canada for Panama City, the vibrant capital of Panama and home to the world-famous Panama Canal. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure.

Day 2 – Panama City

Explore the historic Casco Viejo on a guided walking tour, visiting iconic landmarks including Panama Cathedral, Santo Domingo Convent, the National Theatre, and Paseo Las Bóvedas with views of the Panama Canal entrance.

Spend the afternoon at leisure or choose an optional excursion to the Gamboa Rainforest or an evening of traditional Panamanian cuisine and folklore.

Day 3 – Panama City

Enjoy a free day to explore the city or choose an optional adventure. Relax on the pristine San Blas Islands or visit an Embera Indigenous village to experience their unique culture, traditions, and way of life.

Day 4 – Panama City to Playa Blanca

Transfer to the beautiful beaches of Playa Blanca and begin your all-inclusive resort stay. Spend the afternoon relaxing or join an optional visit to the remarkable Panama Canal at the Miraflores Visitor Center.

Day 5 – Playa Blanca

Enjoy a day at leisure at your beachfront resort. Relax by the pool, swim in the warm Pacific waters, or choose an optional excursion to the province of Coclé to discover local history, crafts, and traditional Panama hats.

Day 6 – Playa Blanca

Spend another day enjoying your all-inclusive resort or join an optional excursion to El Valle de Antón, a picturesque town set inside the crater of an extinct volcano, known for its waterfalls, markets, and local traditions.

Day 7 – Playa Blanca to Canada

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your return flight to Canada, bringing your unforgettable Panama adventure to a close.
