This wonderful monastery, considered Catalonia's most important religious retreat, is hidden high in the craggy Montserrat Mountains. The world's oldest publishing house, established in 1499, is also located here.

Salvador
Salvador, the state capital of Bahia in northeastern Brazil, is renowned for its Afro-Brazilian culture, Portuguese colonial architecture, and tropical coastline. Its historic centre is the Pelourinho area, which features wide squares, colourful houses, and baroque churches like So Francisco that have gilt woodwork.

Pedra Branca State Park
This is one of the largest urban nature parks in the world occupy about 10% of the city. Formally created in June of 1974, protecting an area of Atlanic Forest and containing Pico da Pedra Branca, the highest point of the city. Guided tours are available through several ecological trials including an 11KM hike to the top of Pedra Branca or the 3KM Piabas-Grumari Crossing leading you through dense Atlantic forest to Grumari Beach. Along with being a recognized UNESCO Bioshpere Reserve this amazing park also contains the chapel of São Gonçalo do Amarante built in 1625 as well as the church of Nossa Senhora de Monserrat, built in 1776.

Niterói Museum of Contemorary Art
Niterói can be reached from Rio de Janerio by an affordable ferry ride across Guanabara Bay or by driving across the longest bridge in Brazil. Here you will find a “flying saucer” style Contemporary Art Museum designed by famous arcitecht Oscar Niemeyer and built in the privledged area of Boa Viagem beach with beautiful views of Guanabara Bay. Also found in Niterói are some of the states most beautiful beaches, try to Itacoatiara considered a Surfers Paradise and have a snack at oen of the cabana bars along the shore.

Sugarloaf Mountain
Rising 396 meters above the harbour, Sugarloaf Mountain is said to have derived its name from its resemblance to the traditional shape of concentrated refined loaf sugar. To reach the summit, passengers take two cable cars. The first ascends to the shorter Morro da Urca, 220 meters high. The second car ascends to Pão de Açúcar. The bubble-shaped cars offer passengers 360° views of the surrounding city. The ascent takes three minutes from start to finish.

The historic neighborhood of San Telmo
Pop-up art galleries, late-night bars and street murals lend old San Telmo a bohemian vibe.
