Mount Maunganui
Mount Maunganui, a laid-back neighbourhood on a peninsula, is famous for the extinct Mount Maunganui volcano, a sacred Maori site with hiking paths that provide views of the ocean. Pilot Bay Beach provides calm seas for paddle boarding, while the long, sandy Main Beach is well known for its surf breakers.
