June 16th, 2020 Travel Update

A few thoughts from Dave at CruisePlus

We started in the travel business in a very different world, back in 1991 when we began by chartering ships. Over the beginning years, we chartered 13 full ships, booking approx. 15,000 passengers on mainly Pacific Northwest sailings. This was a risky business, as we had to fill every bed on the ship on our own – but we managed to make it work every time.  Sometimes it was a squeaker!  We thought that our formula in the industry was our only path until one day a passenger asked us if we could book them on a Panama Canal cruise.  Surprise!  And yes, we could! We’ve since grown to become one of Canada’s largest independent travel agencies and are proud to share the knowledge and expertise of our incredible team. Our clients look to us for great service and value in premium and luxury travel.

COVID 19 has been a nightmare for travel agencies, but travel agencies have been a blessing to clients. The amount of time that has been needed to help with cancellations has been unbelievable and we are still in the throes of that work. We know that the efforts from our team has secured even more trust and appreciation from those who have supported us for many years and proven to new clients the incredible value of having an advocate like us doing the work for them.  We’ve heard horror stories from people who booked online or direct with travel suppliers about the tremendous frustration and time it took just to talk to someone.  It’s clear that in the future, having a good travel advisor will be even more important than ever.

The world has changed. The travel industry has changed. CruisePlus has changed. Travelers have changed too, and perhaps in ways that we don’t fully understand yet. Most people who are booking now for 2021 and 2022 want a bit more flexibility. There is some indication that travelers will want some extra time in destinations, to add more flex time to their travel arrangements to ease the stress of making connections and intend to avoid non-refundable deposits or payments even if they come at a better price.

We are going to be a smaller team moving forward and expect to grow again over time. We will continue to offer fully customized travel and our exclusive great value packages. Ask us! We’re experts at this, and as a top producing agency with very experienced advisors, we’ll be here for you.

Our professional team are back to booking for the future, and busy training and updating their knowledge and skills for the day that travel fully opens again. Our dedicated, highly skilled, non-commissioned advisors are here to offer non-biased recommendations, and we are all very grateful for your continued business and referrals.
Your dream today will be your adventure tomorrow!

We are here to help, please reach out if you need us.

Best wishes,

Shelley, Dave and the CruisePlus Team
