I have been so lucky to have cruised to Alaska over 10 times and while the “standard” 7-night roundtrip itinerary is great, I always wish it was longer. Other Alaska options include their land/tour program which is awesome for people that have more time and want to go deep into Denali Park with hope to see this glorious mountain along with spectacular wildlife. Most people will combine a 3 – 11-night land trip with one of the 7 night “one way” cruise itineraries that cruise to or from Whittier (which is close to Anchorage). The Grand, Majestic and Sapphire Princess ships have an array of these northbound or southbound departures. My recommendation is that if you are going to do a land tour, give yourself at minimum 4 nights. My friend Larry and I did only 3 nights and didn’t have enough time to do any real exploring but the train ride was awesome.
New Princess Expanded Itinerary Just For You!
For those of you that want more than 7 days and like the idea of cruising roundtrip Vancouver, Princess has just launched 13 brand new 10 or 11 night sailings from May 12 to September 15. This expanded itinerary usually includes a stop in Icy Strait Point and Sitka along with Victoria, in addition to popular Ketchikan, Juneau & Skagway ports along with a wonderful glacier experience. The Crown Princess was recently refurbished in 2022 and welcomes just over 3000 passengers.
On these bigger ships you can expect to see more dining variety and higher quality entertainment along with plenty of casino games if on your fun list. All Princess ships travelling to Alaska this year have special touches on board including dog sled puppies (how cute is this?!), loggers and local naturalists.
