I’m not sure how everyone else is feeling, but this last few weeks have been tough on most of the people I know. We’ve found it more difficult not have our friends, and the weight of bad news has been a heavier burden. In particular the news out of the US has been so tough to watch; likely we all have friends or family there. Best wishes to you if you are feeling the same; we hope that you are able to visit with family and friends, if only virtually, and keep connected with the people you love.
One of the things that I love to do is travel; and how if you have an open heart and open eyes, it’s entirely possible to fall in love with different cultures, different people, their food and their places. I’m missing that; I truly long for when our world is opened up again. And there is some positive news!
You may have heard that more and more countries are opening up their tourism sector. Right now it would be difficult for any of us to take advantage of those opportunities as there is a warning against all non-essential travel still in place – but it provides hope, and dreams! When you do go looking again, please reach out to your CruisePlus Travel Advisor; we will help you wind your way through the process and help inform you of implications regarding insurance, which can be very significant – especially in a complicated travel environment.
On the cruise front…Canada is shut down until October 31st, of 2020, which means we are pretty much done for this year. It appears that there may be some more fall activity on the cruise front out of US ports…but that’s a wait and see situation and perhaps some of the really small ships will be operating even out of Canadian ports. Really, the focus is on 2021 – and yes, it is still selling well. We are up in sales significantly over the same time last year. And of special note – the highest category staterooms are selling very, very well, so if that’s what you have in mind, please don’t wait.
And just a quick CruisePlus update. We had expected that the information we required to invoice our clients would have been forthcoming from travel suppliers by now. It is still very slow in coming and sometimes inaccurate, and because of this, we have put our invoicing on pause until or unless we get final information. So we are changing – in order to try to keep you informed, we are beginning to send out update letters with what we do know. The volume of bookings that we have is going to cause this to be quicker…but still not quick, as we are truly still inundated.
