180 Degrees from Ordinary ®
Youthful, sexy, and casual, Windstar really is different from the other luxury cruise lines. The ships are intimate and the service is very personal. Guest satisfaction is extremely strong. They have been voted #3 Best Small Ship Cruise Line by the readers of Conde Nast Traveler and #3 Best Mid-Sized Cruise Line by the readers of Travel and Leisure. These are cruises meant for couples, and not suited for young children.
Discover the intimate and exciting casual luxury that Windstar Cruises offers on each of their sailings. Contact us today and let CruisePlus introduce you to the Windstar difference and discover what Windstar means by “180 Degrees from Ordinary”!
Windstar is a unique and wonderful brand that we feel falls in the deluxe category (along with Azamara, Oceania, Disney), and I have created some of my very best travel memories on their ships. The “180° from Ordinary” tagline fits as they have sailing ships that are quite unlike any other as well as luxury yachts, all geared towards exploring destinations well. We describe Windstar as casually elegant and very comfortable. Windstar is a good option for you if you enjoy a relaxed atmosphere where you will likely meet interesting, active guests and where you are able to dress in resort casual style. If you do decide to travel with Windstar, make sure you take advantage of the unique open bridge policy and get to know your Captain. Also, worth noting: if you like wine it is worth adding a beverage package at the time of booking.
A Different Direction
In 2018, Windstar is ramping up their focus on the destination experience for their guests. In their own words:
“Quite simply, no one else goes so far to get travelers so close. We will be focusing on the unique aspects of our brand as it relates to true, small ship cruising and our ability to deliver destinations like no other cruise line.”
The ships are beautiful, all having had major renovations in the last couple years. Three of the original Windstar ships have the iconic motorized sails you see in their pictures. These are the Surf, (312 guests), the Star and the Spirit, (148 guests). The Pride, Legend, and Breeze all carry 212 guests and were formerly the ultra-luxury yachts of Seabourn. Staterooms are stylish, though only the triplets have some balconies.
Signature destinations are Tahiti, the Greek Islands, and the deep Caribbean. However, with the addition of the triplets, itineraries have been expanded to include Asia, Panama Canal/Costa Rica, Alaska (new in 2018), and a complete Europe program, including popular Iceland cruises. These smaller ships really do visit lots of ports you will not see on large ship cruises.
With premium pricing, most services are included in your fares. You will pay extra for shore excursions, alcoholic drinks, spa services, gratuities, and taxes.
When you cruise with Windstar, you have the benefits of intimate ships and personal service without the price levels associated with the ultra-luxury ships. Small is beautiful, excellent value, and great fun.
