YOUR WORLD. YOUR WAY.®
Oceania was launched in 2002 as a premium cruise line to compete with Holland America and Celebrity. While the other premium brands have increased the size of their ships, Oceania has stayed with a small-to mid-sized fleet with a reputation for outstanding food, great service, and 2-for-1 packaged pricing. This approach has built Oceania a loyal following. In the Cruisecritic’s 2017 Cruisers Choice awards, Marina, Riviera, and Nautica took 2nd, 3rd, and 5th respectively in the Best Overall Mid-Sized Ship category.
Filling the gap between premium and luxury, Oceanian Cruises is ideal for those that enjoy the finer things in life including outstanding destinations and gourmet cuisine. Contact CruisePlus to book your next luxury Oceania adventure!
The fleet has six ships in total. The four smaller sister ships, Nautica, Insignia, Regatta and Sirena, have only 684 guests. The two larger ships, Marina and Riviera, have 1250 guests. Excellent cuisine has been a hallmark of the brand since it launched. Master Chef Jacques Pepin is the current Executive Culinary Director. Oceania claims to serve “The Finest Cuisine at SeaTM”.
The ships sail worldwide itineraries, including the 180-day around-the-world cruise of the Insignia. Oceania prides itself on its well-paced itineraries that include evenings in port and extended port calls dedicated to an in-depth experience of the destination.
Staterooms and suites on the larger Marina and Riviera are spacious. Every stateroom and suite in the fleet features a Prestige Tranquillity Bed. The onboard ambience is “country club casual”. There is butler service in the suites.
Oceania is the bridge between premium and luxury in the cruise industry. When you get onboard, the quality of what you experience is definitely along the luxury side, but some of the amenities are not included, hence the reason it isn’t truly considered a luxury product. However, that doesn’t mean it isn’t a good value. The staterooms, onboard amenities and the atmosphere onboard the ships are lovely, and some of the little touches like included transfers in many ports is a bonus…but what really continues to draw people to Oceania is the culinary experience. There is no getting around it, Oceania is a lovely cruise line to experience if you love food and wine.
To add value for their guests, Oceania tends to promote packaged pricing that includes airfare, transfers, and included collections of shore excursions, beverages, and internet access. Benefits vary by sailing, based on the popularity of a cruise. By giving guests these promotional options, Oceania lets guests “control their luxury.” In other words, spend your money where it matters to you.
On first impression, Oceania’s prices may seem high. However, when you consider the benefits that are included and the quality of the experience, you will understand why this brand has such a strong following. With small ships, great service, memorable cuisine, and extensive itineraries, Oceania is a cut above the other premium brands.
