See the World Your Way
Avalon is part of the Globus Family of Brands and benefits from 90 years of world travel experience. Most of their 21-ship fleet is in Europe. However, they also have Asian, Nile, Amazon, and Galapagos cruises. The European ships range in size from 128-166 guests, compared to Viking’s standard of 190. So, service can be even more personal.

Their Suite Ships® boast more spacious suites and staterooms, with an indoor/outdoor feel created by their Open-Air BalconySM. In their Panorama SuitesSM, these wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling windows allow expansive views and open to create a balcony feel. Avalon has also oriented their beds so that the view out this beautiful window is available right from the pillow!
An Avalon cruise is comfortable and relaxed. No ties or gowns required. The cruise staff can help with any custom shore requests you have. Nightly entertainment features local performers, or a night on the town when in port.
It’s hard to describe what I felt when I boarded an Avalon Waterways ship for the first time…other than to say that it felt very comfortable, like coming home. The furnishings are beautiful but not ostentatious, and it was a great fit for me and those I was traveling with. Avalon has also revolutionized the design of the staterooms on their “suite ships” and it really added to my enjoyment of the cruise.
Feed Your Mind. Feed Your Soul
Avalon has created a culinary program based on local produce called “Avalon Fresh”. These entrees double as healthy alternatives to the rest of the tempting menu. Complimentary wine and beer is served with lunch and dinner.
Avalon has some wonderful itineraries. One favorite that combines excellent stops on both the Rhine and the Danube is the Upper Rhine to the City of Music, (Zurich to Vienna). Another is their Burgundy & Provence cruise, (Cote D’Azur to Paris). They recently announced new Rhine & Moselle cruises that include Paris. By combining the actual cruise with included land extensions, they provide a more complete experience for guests and more convenient air connections.
The exotic destinations are also well designed, and the ships are even more personal, ranging from about 40 guests in the Amazon and Galapagos to about 80 in Asia. It’s a great way to see parts of the world you would probably not visit independently.
With Avalon, you are traveling with an excellent, experienced travel company. They are well-established everywhere they take you, so you can really enjoy the journey.
